About the Author

Philip C. Staggs was born in Oakland California, December 2, 1942 and graduated from Buena Park High School while serving as Senior Class President, captain of the football team and honored to be selected as Most Valuable Athlete of the Year in 1961.

Phil continued with his education by attending Fullerton Jr. College and Whittier College earning a BS degree in Education. After college Phil served in the U.S. Army with intentions of making a career in the military until he meet a young lady by the name of Sandra Lynne Moorhead.  Phil and Sandi became husband and wife for the following 41 years. Sandra passed on but not before they became the proud parents of three sons, seven daughters, and 23 grandchildren.

After serving in the Army, Phil was a high school teacher coaching football and track for 11 years. As a coach Phil was fortunate to produce several winning seasons and was once honored as the district coach of the year.

Leaving the teaching and coaching profession, Phil began a career as a construction sales representative working his way up to a branch manager position and later as district Vice President. After spending 22 years in construction sales, Phil moved to Texas while starting up his own business during the following three years before deciding to retire in order to attend to his wife who was trying to overcome cancer.

Currently Phil is retired with the desire to write about a country he loves so much and that is the driving reason for America Is Calling.
