Glenda Barnes’ new book, Billy and Brook is the story of a brother and sister and how the brother goes out of his way to accommodate the sister; he carefully helps her, ensuring that she has a “normal” life, despite the fact that she’s handicapped. The essence of this story is for children to always be kind and helpful.
“The book reaches out to handicapped and non-handicapped children,” states the author. “Readers will see the love between the siblings and their thoughtfulness to others. They can relate to the story and see images of positive behavior. I hope the readers will think about being kind every day, because in doing so… lives can be enriched.”
